Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing leaders who plan and deliver such an inspiring programme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-white-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Programme<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re really excited to share the Squirrels programme with you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each badge is packed with wow and wonder, perfect for anyone who\u2019s ever asked \u2018Why?\u2019 (or \u2018Why not?\u2019). You\u2019ll tell stories and play games. Get active and explore the outdoors. Become a brilliant builder and a super chef. There\u2019s something for everyone \u2013 and that means that there\u2019s something for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When designing the badges and activities for Squirrel Scouts, our goal was to create:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an age-appropriate programme,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>that meets the Theory of Change,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and is respected by Early Years practitioners,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>without compromising our Scout values, \u200b&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>which encourages community and home learning,\u200b&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and works in areas of deprivation and for diverse ethnic communities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, we wrote, tested and updated a programme proposal&nbsp;with nearly 400&nbsp;people to create badges full of adventure, fun, and, of course, skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-white-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saftey and Safeguarding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Doing things safely is fundamental to everything we do at Scouts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualified Leaders will host a safe and secure programme aimed specifically at 4 and 5 year olds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Squirrel ratios are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1:6 inside plus a leader in charge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1:4 outside (away from the safety of the usual meeting place) plus a leader in charge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>with a minimum of 3 adults regardless of the number of Squirrels attending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out our page on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scouts.org.uk\/information-for-parents\/stay-safe\/\">everything parents and carers need to know about safety and safeguarding.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parents and carers can come along too<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Squirrels Dreys are opening across the UK and we know how important it&#8217;s for some parents\/carers to want to see their young person having fun. So parents\/carers will have the option to stick around during the one hour sessions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-scout-blue-background-color has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-text-color\">Squirrel leaders<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color\">All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Drey week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills.
